Best route

Best route — train, step by step

The train route is the cleanest answer for almost every traveler: it stops 5 minutes from our door.

  1. Follow “Train to City” signs at OTP arrivals

After baggage claim, follow the “Train to City” signs in the Arrivals hall. Take the lift or stairs down — the CFR platform is in the basement of the airport.

  2. Buy your ticket (6.50 RON, card or mobile)

Pay right after boarding, ideally from your phone if mobile/online ticketing is available. Card on board works. The CFR fare on the airport route is 6.50 RON.

  3. Take the direct train to Gara de Nord (~21 min)

Board the airport line train. It runs 24/7 non-stop, with departures roughly every 40 minutes, straight to Gara de Nord with no transfers. The ride takes about 21 minutes.

  4. Exit Gara de Nord toward Calea Griviței

Use the main station exit, on the Calea Griviței / Bulevardul Dinicu Golescu side (front of the station, not the back).

  5. Walk 5 minutes to Str. Ing. Pisoni 26

Pisoni is a small street near the station. Walk along Calea Griviței and turn onto Str. Ing. Pisoni — the building has the POPCORN HOSTEL banner on the facade. Use your personal access code on the outer gate.

Other options

Other options

Useful if you land at night, have heavy luggage, or already have a Bucharest transit card.

Bus 780 (only when activated by TPBI)

TPBI sometimes activates bus 780 as a direct OTP → Gara Basarab / Gara de Nord backup, usually when the airport train is not running. Do not assume it runs daily — check InfoTB / TPBI before relying on it.

Night arrivals — train, bus, taxi

The CFR airport train runs 24/7, with departures roughly every 40 minutes — at night the gap can stretch a bit. If you just missed one, bus 100 runs 24/7 too, or take a Bolt / Uber straight to Str. Ing. Pisoni 26.

Official airport taxi

Use only the marked taxi rank outside the terminal. Pay by card. Do not accept rides from people inside the terminal — they overcharge.

Bolt / Uber pickup

Open the app at the dedicated rideshare pickup zone (signposted from arrivals). Pin the hostel as Str. Ing. Pisoni 26.
